Michelle lives in Barnsley with her 6 month-old son Andrew.

Please explain why you’ve chosen to breastfeed?
I wanted to try it as everyone says that it gives your baby the best start possible.

What did the people around you think of your decision to breastfeed - eg partner, parents, friends, family?
Everyone was really pleased for me and really supported my decision. That helped a lot and gave me the confidence and self-belief to breastfeed my baby.

What general advice would you give to expectant mums considering breastfeeding?
Give it a go. It has lots of benefits.

What advice would you give to mums whose partner/friends/parents disapprove of breastfeeding?
Just give it a try. If it doesn’t work for you then that’s OK, but at least you’ve given it a good try.

Did you speak to anyone for advice or do any research about feeding, if so, who did you speak to/where did you look for information?
I spoke to my Midwife and Health Visitor, they gave me lots of good advice and helped me to make an informed decision about breastfeeding.
