WELCOME TO THE BE A STAR BLOG
Breastfeeding is an amazing achievement. Not just for the babies that benefit from the nutrients that only real baby milk contains, but also for their mums, partners and families.
THE CAMPAIGN
The Be a Star campaign is dedicated to increasing the number of young mums who choose to breastfeed. We hope to do this by showcasing the beauty, confidence and pride that comes with breastfeeding, as well as highlighting the unique health benefits that it brings to both baby and mum. The campaign has been informed at all stages by the opinions and experiences of real, local, young breastfeeding mums.
Be A Star is for young mums, by young mums, and the gorgeous girls you see fronting the campaign are also real, local, young mums, breastfeeding their babies. For more details on these inspirational women, visit our ‘Stars’ section.
The campaign will target over half a million people, using a range of tactics including a radio, outdoor marketing in shopping centres, advertising in bus shelters and on buses, posters in Children’s Centres, libraries, colleges, GP surgeries as well as a variety of information leaflets and YouTube viral.

I am currently writing a dissertation about why young mums are least likely to breastfeed. I came accross your campaign when researching and think it’s a great idea to glamourise breastfeeding in this way. The fact that you have used real local breastfeeding young mums instead of models emphasises the point even more.
I think that making breastfeeding fashionable is really important. Well done everyone I hope you can get the campaign run nationally

I saw online news reports about the campaign and wanted to tell you what an amazing job you all did. The photography is great and the mothers looks so hip and stunning. Here in the States, all the breastfeeding literature looks so stodgy and about 15 years out of date. As the breastfeeding young(ish) mother of a three month old, I really wish we had a similar campaign here in America. Great job, and I think you’ll get a lot of notice.

Fantastic campain! Heard your promotion on the radio it stopped me in my tracks - well done in promoting breastfeeding in such a succesful way.
Sign posted to the blog by Carol Miles brilliant! Congratulations to all the team and carry on with the good work in not only promoting mums to breastfeed but also encourage mums to give mothers own milk to those who choose not to breastfeed - leading to more infants and mums getting the health benefits associated with breastmilk

To everyone involved in this campaigne you all should be very proud of what you have acheived. The girls and babies look stunning and have shown that breastfeeding is something to be proud of and not to be hidden away. WELL DONE!

This has definitely been the most challenging but positive project I have ever been involved in! it has been worth it though!!!
All the people involved in it have worked exceptionally hard, and it is wonderful to see the results and the positive feedback from everyone.
The girls are real stars in their own right, and I hope that we can get more coverage.
Send the web address to anyone you know, help make breastfeeding fashionable again!

This is absolutely brilliant! Congratulations to all involved, Little Angels, the mothers, the STARS and the people who believed in the campaign and provided funding. I hope this is an example of what can be achieved across the whole country when we believe in breastfeeding.
At the NCT we’re working to encourage mothers to feel proud of themselves however long they breastfeed, and for more support for breastfeeding at all levels.

This has been a fantastic campaign to be involved with - the results are fantastic, the girls are truly shining stars, and the radio ad is great.
I hope this campaign can go national as the images are so eye catching and appealing to younger girls - truly proving that we are making breastfeeding fashionable.
This has been an unique example of cross sector working, public, private and third sector with community involvement to produce stunning results.
